The Communications Support Unit is Wispayr's mobile ops platform — Starlink uplink, Halio compute, deployable UDM Protect cameras, Reticulum mesh, full RF/EM spectrum awareness. It also runs the drone plane: RTMP/SRT ingest for any drone, feeds adopted as cameras via an ONVIF shim, and AERION counter-UAS detection for the airspace overhead. Wispayr is a RAYNET member; the CSU is available to RAYNET and to other agency partners.

How it hangs together

Vehicle-borne platform

Everything on this site, in a van. Starlink uplink, Halio compute, deployable Protect cameras, Reticulum mesh, RF+EM awareness, kit register, dispatch gateway.

Dual-bearer uplink

Starlink primary, WireGuard-mesh secondary. Auto-failover bearers. No single point of disconnect.

Edge compute

Halio node runs inference locally. Dashboards encoded to RTSP and adopted by the van UDM Protect. Works off-grid.

Comms

Reticulum over WG when the internet holds; over LAN or RF when it doesn't. Dispatch gateway for multi-channel messaging.

Drone plane

Any drone publishes over RTMP or SRT into the van's mediamtx; feeds cascade through go2rtc and an ONVIF shim so the UDM Protect adopts each drone as a camera alongside the fixed ones. AERION runs counter-UAS detection + mesh-mapping on the airspace overhead — friendly feeds in, hostile drones flagged.

Kit-tracked

Every flight case and container is QR-tagged. Check in, check out, dispatch to events — queryable history.

RAYNET + partners

Wispayr is a RAYNET member. The CSU is available to RAYNET and to other agency partners, for events and incidents.
