Broadcast & Radio

The systems behind a working radio station.

Every studio screen, script, bulletin and outside broadcast at Now Ayrshire Radio runs on systems we designed, built and operate — on the same intelligence plane as the rest of this site. We also build for Lomond Radio.

Now Ayrshire Radio · the signal chain

From the first idea to the listener.

26 systems, placed where they sit in a day at the station. Green is on air or in daily use; amber is built and being proven before it goes near live output.

Under all of it
Helix — the station's control plane

Assets, sites, people, runbooks, tasks and incidents in one place, with an encrypted, audit-logged credential vault and passkey sign-in.

A knowledge base of 360+ equipment manuals, and small agents on the studio machines that report health, software and every soundcard — drawn as a live audio map.

A rebuilt studio network edge, running on two internet connections.

Alongside it, the staff intranet: station tools, the OB hub and live shared documents.

Pop-up station

Airshow Radio, 87.7 FM.

A station in a weekend

A restricted service licence for the Ayr Show on 4–5 September 2026: FM, a web stream and a website, alongside Now Ayrshire Radio's stand.

An FM feed that heals itself

The transmitter feed ran unattended. We killed it on purpose in testing; it was back on air by itself in under two minutes.

Real aircraft, on screen

Flight-track videos cut from the actual ADS-B trail of display aircraft — the same aviation data behind EGPK.info.

Beyond Ayrshire

Lomond Radio.

A helpdesk for a volunteer-run station

Faults reported by email become tracked tickets, so nothing a volunteer notices on a Saturday gets lost by Monday. Built for how a community station actually works: many hands, few engineers.

  • Email-to-ticket fault inbox
  • Every fault logged as a ticket
  • Hosted and run on the Wispayr platform
In the workshop

What's next, honestly labelled.

Studio Director
in build

Switches between four studio cameras on its own and adds lower thirds. Installed and on test — not on live air until it's proven.

ON AIR, automatically
in build

Reads playout and desk state passively, so camera cuts and the ON AIR light follow what's actually live.

Simulcast
planned

An in-house restream to every social platform at once, replacing a paid service.

Run a station?

Screens, scripts, OBs or the whole stack — we build what a station needs and keep it running.
